The U.S. Human Rights Fund hosted a convening in Los Angeles, California June 14-17, 2010. Entitled Strengthening Campaign Capacity Through Human Rights, the convening brought together nearly 100 advocates working on 3 distinct campaigns:
- Ending the school-to-prison pipeline and ensuring dignity in schools;
- Juvenile Life Without Parole (JLWOP) sentencing reform; and
- Ensuring domestic human rights accountability to international human rights norms.
Breakout sessions facilitated dialogue between advocates and explored potential intersections between campaigns. Trainings were provided on Network Development and Mapping, Communications and Messaging, New Media for Campaigns, and Campaign Strategy Development. Site visits and a report launch were held, and a good time was had by all!
