USHRF Global Advocates Convening A Great Success

February 17, 2009

The US Human Rights Fund hosted a Global Strategy Exchange in New Orleans, January 11-13, 2009, followed by a site visit to North Gulfport, Mississippi on January 14.

140 human rights advocates from 12 countries--spanning 5 continents-- gathered to share their domestic human rights work and to strategize together on promising opportunities to develop transnational advocacy projects. More than three dozen presenters addressed a broad variety of human rights issues, including racial discrimination, ongoing displacement after Hurricane Katrina, criminal justice system reform, workers' rights, gender and sexuality rights and immigration reform.
