Global Rights

Global Rights is a human rights advocacy group that partners with local activists to challenge injustice and promote universal human rights. With offices in countries around the world, we work with local activists to effect change through organizing, documentation, strategic litigation, legislative advocacy, and international advocacy.

Global Rights helps U.S. social justice activists use international human rights laws and procedures to enhance their anti-racism advocacy work. We provide long-term technical assistance to partner organizations, offer specialized training programs, coordinate U.S. civil society participation in international human rights activities, and produce relevant resource materials. Current project areas include: combating racism in the criminal justice system; protecting the rights of domestic workers; advancing the right to equal education; and promoting U.S. government accountability under human rights treaties.

With support from the US Human Rights Fund, Global Rights will coordinate two issue-based working groups that focus on criminal justice, and education and racial segregation. Global Rights will use these working groups to conduct training workshops and provide technical assistance on shadow reporting and advocacy efforts in connection with the March 2008 review of the U.S. report to CERD.
