Breakthrough is an international human rights organization that uses education and popular culture to promote values of dignity, equality, and justice. Through its Why Can’t American Have Human Rights? campaign, Breakthrough seeks to revitalize public support for progressive values by encouraging the application of human rights principles to domestic social justice issues.

The initiative incorporates innovative public education tools like easy-to-use primers; an online quiz; and an online animated flash game to address this important human rights issue. With the use of video interviews, stand-up comedy, public forums, a music video, interactive toolkits, animations, and an upcoming video game, Breakthrough’s multimedia education campaign, Restoring the Right to Due Process, encourages public dialogue about the American values of respecting rights, due process, and detention and deportation.
