National Coordinator for the Fair Sentencing of Children
The National Coordinator for the Fair Sentencing of Children coordinates a growing coalition of advocates seeking to eliminate the juvenile life without parole sentence (JLWOP).
Project
Over the grant term, the National Coordinator will support state-level legislative campaigns to eliminate JLWOP sentencing by sharing human rights advocacy strategies, compilations of model legislation, and lobbying strategies. The Coordinator will also support litigation efforts by following key JLWOP cases and sharing litigation and briefing materials.
Finally, the National Coordinator will regularly convene JLWOP advocates through conference calls and in-person meetings, and build external support for ending JLWOP through a public education campaign.
