Human Rights Project at the Urban Justice Center
The Human Rights Project (HRP) is a domestic human rights organization working to apply globally accepted human rights standards to advance social justice in the United States. HRP has been at the forefront of the domestic human rights movement for the past ten years, demonstrating new models of applying human rights standards, laws, and mechanisms to effectively advocate for the most vulnerable members of our society. Through public education, organizing, and human rights documentation, HRP uses a human rights framework to promote a higher standard of government accountability with a focus on the intersection of race, gender, and poverty. HRP is one of eight projects of the Urban Justice Center, an anti-poverty non-profit organization.
Project
For this grant term, the U.S. Human Rights Fund is primarily providing the Human Rights Project with general operating support. Additionally, a small portion of our grant will be used for developing HRP's development capacity. This portion of the grant will be used to hire a fundraising consultant to help HRP's funding sources, ensuring their ability to thrive and grow over the coming years. HRP will also use USHRF's grant to host a fundraising benefit in September 2009.
