Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc.

The Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. (CLINIC) provides a range of legal and non-legal support services to 173 member agencies comprised mainly of Catholic diocesan immigration programs. Their member agencies serve low-income immigrants seeking family reunification, citizenship, and protection from persecution and violence.

Project

USHRF supports CLINIC's collaboration with Georgetown University's Institute for the Study of International Migration (ISIM) on the implementation of international human rights standards for children in U.S. immigration cases. CLINIC will produce a training curriculum on the human rights of unaccompanied children to legal counsel, guardians, and guardians ad litem. ISIM will develop a related report and legal memorandum on the use of international human rights norms in U.S. courts.

CLINIC will also provide ongoing trainings based on the curriculum it developed and piloted through USHRF's last grant to CLINIC, regarding the international human right to respect for family life and its application in domestic immigration cases.
