Funder Services
One of the U.S. Human Rights Fund's core functions is to leverage the support of existing donors to attract new resources for the domestic human rights field. The Fund helps to educate and support new and existing donors by:
* Organizing donor briefings and strategic convenings on human rights advocacy in the United States;
* Collectively reviewing grant proposals and conducting site visits to domestic human rights organizations; and
* Publishing case studies on human rights work, trends in the field, and recommendations for effective human rights grantmaking (Voices from the Field: Strengthening Social Justice and Human Rights in the U.S., 2007).
Donors participating in the U.S. Human Rights Fund Steering Committee also benefit by gaining exposure to new issues by virtue of our cross-sectoral funding approach. We make grant decisions together so that donors can learn about new work, and think collectively about how to refine funding strategies that benefit the greatest number of actors in the field. By grappling together with the needs that significantly outstrip available resources, donors are sensitized to the need to integrate support to human rights work elsewhere in their institutional giving.
If you are a donor interested in learning more about or supporting the U.S. Human Rights Fund, please contact USHRF staff for further information.
